Rev. Jeanelyse Doran Adams
Director of Congregational Services

Who We Are:

We are a team of trained and experienced Unitarian Universalist volunteers, clergy and lay. We work closely with the PCD District Executive and with the UU Ministers Association Good Offices when appropriate.

What We Do:

We are available to work with congregations in situations of conflict; troubled transitions, difficult communications and other circumstances which stress our Unitarian Universalist communities.

With Whom Do We Work?

We can work with whole congregations, the Board, clergy and staff, or other defined groups as the individual circumstances require.

Fees:

Services for on-site sessions are charged at $200 per half-day units for two consultants. (e.g., 9 a.m. to Noon or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.).

What Are The Costs?

The Healthy Congregations Team (HCT) is a group of trained and experienced volunteers who are committed to the health of Unitarian Universalist congregations. Of the fees charged, 20% goes to the HCT fund for administration and continuing education and 10% to a scholarship fund. The remainder of the fees goes to pay for the professional services of the consultants. We have a scholarship fund and flexible payment arrangements so that small or financially stressed congregations will not be prevented from obtaining services.

Typical Services & Fees:

Visit to explain services and negotiate contract:
* If services are used: Free
* IF services are not used: $75
Assessment Visit: $200 - $400
Written Report with Recommendations: $200.00
(We include one follow-up visit with our report.)

Expenses:

The congregation will pay consultant's expenses (travel, lodging, meals, telephone, etc.) up to $200. The PCD will cover any additional expenses.

Educational Services:

Conflict is an inevitable part of life. How we manage it often makes the difference between it being constructive or destructive for us. Creating the right climate and developing the skills to manage conflict are important ingredients for a successful experience. To this end, the Healthy Congregations Team provides educational services to help congregations' experience conflict productively.

The Healthy Congregations Team will tailor training packages to meet individual congregational needs. Such packages may include:
* SAFE Congregations
* Covenant of Right Relations

When To Call Us:

Conflict is a normal part of congregational life. The earlier it is recognized and responded to skillfully, the better. So, call us, at least for advice, early in a conflict! Congregational health can be enhanced by working with congregations NOT in conflict. The HCT teaches congregations tools to improve communication and problem solving skills.

Contacting the HCT:

The minister or congregational president can contact the Director of Congregational Services, Rev. Jeanelyse Doran Adams, to discuss the need for the HCT. Specific services and a contract will be negotiated between the HCT Consultants and the Board at an assessment visit.
